Fall heralds the start of school, changing leaves, shorter days, cooler weather, (can it come soon enough?). And before long, you’ll be choosing between baseball and football on weekend afternoons.
As you prepare to dress in an updated and confident way “post Labor Day”, here are a few ideas to start you down the right path.
SUITING UP?
TRADITIONAL SUITING – This Fall’s business suit is updated, yet timeless; fundamentally classic and masculine. Typically, a two-button jacket with three key elements:
- Shoulders with moderate to sharp definition
- A slim waist
- Slim trousers (whether flat front or pleated)
ON-TREND Suits and Sports Coats will have narrow lapels(whether notch or peak), as well as a shorter length. The look and feel is trim or close fitting, though not demandingly tight, with all the areas of fullness cleaned up.
For those who are really “out in front”, double-breasted jackets should be on your list. This DB model is a clean, peak lapel, trim model, with just a touch of shoulder, …which buttons on the waist, in a classic British style.
Of course, when having your clothing made we can fit your jacket and pants however you prefer.
Organic Comfort
For those occasions that don’t require formal business attire, it’s all about organic comfort!
- Sports Coats and Blazers with lighter, softer construction. Especially if you are seeking to build a better wardrobe “in the middle” - the look that is neither fully dressed up nor completely dressed down. This lighter construction feels more like sportswear, while retaining a soft, tailored appearance. Think of it as “professional comfort” clothes.
- Sportswear is being made from fabrics that are washed and otherwise treated to make them especially soft, supple and inviting….like your favorite worn-in shirt.
- Cloth with texture and the look of luxe – featuring tweeds, flannels, herringbones, corded weaves, and velvet. These cloths are carefully designed to create patterns and finishes that are clear and clean with weights that are comfortably worn in most any climate and region of the country this fall.
Fall Colors To Watch For
- Foundational Colors for the remainder of 2011 are the rich and warm tones of camel and olive, browns that lean toward the sepia tones of Old Hollywood, blue tones that are warmer than the standard navy, and the ever reliable medium gray.
- Accent Colors of bamboo (a greenish yellow), cedar and coffee, emberglow, indigo, deep purple, burgundy, and anything else that breathes “Americana.” [Now you’re asking yourself, “Did I just read “emberglow”?” Yes, you did. It’s a rusty, muted shade of orange. Something new to impress with. You’re welcome!]
